The Abbey of Sant'Antimo is a former Benedictine monastery in the comune of Montalcino, Tuscany in central Italy. It is about 9 km from the Via Francigena, the pilgrim route to Rome. Disused for many years, since 1992 the abbey has been in use by a small community of Premonstratensian Canons Regular. The origins of the abbey are obscure; the earliest document relating to the abbey is a land grant of Louis the Pious dated December 813. The foundation of the original Benedictine monastery dates to the time of Charlemagne. Prints are available in any size and on any material. Click above to order.
