In County Clare on the western coast of Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher rise 120 m (390 ft) above the sea. The cliffs get their name from a fort that once stood there; it was demolished in 1808. Perched at the top is O'Brien's Tower, built in 1835 as a tourist lookout. The Cliffs are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ireland and have appeared in numerous films and are mentioned in many songs over the years.
